At first, it was quiet. A breathless kind of quiet, like the air before a storm. Mikasa stood just a little too close to him. Levi started calling for Eren just a little too often. Armin noticed first, watching from a distance with the careful eyes of someone who knew exactly how explosive both sides could be.
And Eren-well, Eren tried not to notice at all.
