To destroy that weird awkward feeling of worry that he senses whenever he is around anyone. He just hopes that maybe if he lies to others enough about what's really going on, then maybe he'll start convincing himself. That maybe, just maybe, the problems will go away. WARNING! A good amount of this story is me telling some of my experiences with depression, self harm, anxiety, etc. through Kirishima. All I ask of you as a reader is to please be kind in the comments. Honestly, as cheesy as it sounds, be kind to everyone. You really don't know what they are secretly going through.
