...I got into my car and drove. Drove without knowing where I was going, trying to drown out the pain, the betrayal, the sheer heartbreak. Not today. Not like this. For Elim, running was the only option. Fleeing to Johannesburg, she hopes to leave behind the humiliation and the suffocating weight of a name that means so much in Cameroon. But you can only run so far from who you are. Elim will soon learn that her past-and her mother's silent struggle-cannot be outrun. She must return to face the demons she left behind and confront the truth about the family she both loves and resents. From the outside, the Djalls are a picture of perfection: wealthy, tight-knit, reputable. But beneath the surface of their luxurious life, a mother and daughter are hiding world-shattering secrets that threaten to tear them apart. A powerful story about the lies we tell for love, the price of expectation, and the unbreakable bonds that ultimately call us home.

"You came into my life out of nowhere, Eliana, like a storm I never saw coming, and turned everything upside down. You stirred feelings in me I didn't even know I had. And now, just like that, you want to walk away? After everything? If that's really what you want, then fine... but before you go, I swear I'll make you fall in love with me. Maybe then, you'll realize this is where you belong... with me." After graduating from college, Eliana is ready to start a new chapter of her life. She dreams of joining her older sister abroad to help support their family, but everything changes when tragedy strikes. Her best friend, who is heavily pregnant, gets into a terrible accident on her way home. Miraculously, the baby survives, but her best friend doesn't make it. Now, Eliana is left devastated and burdened with an overwhelming responsibility. Her best friend had no other living family, so the newborn is left in her care. With no stable income, no solid plan for her future, and no experience in motherhood, Eliana is forced to make an impossible choice. The only hope she sees is to track down the baby's father, a man she deeply resents. She knows exactly where to find him. This man, as far as she knows, took advantage of her best friend during one of her lowest moments. The thought of facing him fills her with anger and disgust. But for the baby's sake, she gathers the courage to confront him. Their first meeting is tense. Eliana's heart is heavy with judgment and pain. What begins as a reluctant partnership turns into a tangled web of emotion, truth, and healing. Now Eliana must face the most difficult question of all: Can she trust the man she once hated... not just with the child, but with her own heart? P.S: This story is taglish. Hope you like it. 💙🤗
