Zara Lansing has spent her life surviving-first her father's fists, then the silent cruelty of a wealthy family that treated her as disposable. At seventeen, she forged her way into the Air Force. At twenty-six, she works security for one of the richest families in the city. She knows how to keep her head down, how to stay invisible, how to survive. But Zara has a secret: she can read anything. Every language. Every code. Every forgotten word. And when she stumbles across a book titled Zara Reads the World-a text her employers have been guarding for generations-her gift stops being her own. The book isn't just a relic. It's prophecy. One that says if she turns the last page, she'll never return. Now, Zara is trapped between two families: the one that abandoned her but still pulls strings in the shadows, and the one that owns her present, unwilling to let her walk away. The only person standing between her and complete ruin is Tank-the guarded, calculating heir who speaks fifty languages but sees her more clearly than anyone ever has. As danger closes in, Zara must decide: will she run again, or claim the story that has already written her name?

It all started with a dare. A really stupid dare that I never should have agreed to. Meet Zara Quinn, she has long, golden blonde hair and light blue eyes. She totally fits the stereotype of a 'Popular Bitch'. The only thing is, she doesn't feel as if she belongs in the 'popular' group. She's not particularly close to any of them, and she certainly can't trust them with anything, because they have the tendency to gossip. But yet she does what they say, and sticks by them, because she is scared that they'll kick her out of their 'group'. Being popular is all she knows. It's all she's ever been. One night, stuck in a game of Spin The Bottle, she gets dared to make the nobody, Caleb Evans, fall for her, then she has to break his heart. Zara reluctantly agrees, thinking that this will be easy, as boys fall at her feet all the time. But she can't shake the feeling that this isn't going to be so easy...
