Synopsis

Growing up, things were never easy for Wen Qingqing. She wasn't rebellious, nor was she disobedient - she only wanted to be loved. But fate... fate had never been kind to her.

Abandoned at birth by parents who deemed her a mistake, she spent her early years in the cold embrace of strangers, learning that silence was safer than hope. When the Wen family finally brought her back, it wasn't out of guilt or love - but out of need. She became the unfavored daughter, a shadow in her own home, a convenient target for her parents' frustration and her siblings' cruelty.

Every bruise, every insult, every cold stare taught her one thing - she was unwanted. But she endured. She clung to a fragile dream that one day, her family would see her. That one day, they would love her.

That dream shattered when she overheard the truth.

She had only been brought back for one reason - to serve as a living donor. Her blood, her marrow, her organs - all meant to save the twin siblings her parents truly loved. Her existence was nothing more than a slow, deliberate sacrifice.

Even then, Wen Qingqing didn't break. She kept smiling through the pain, through the nights she cried herself to sleep, whispering that tomorrow might be different.

But fate wasn't done with her.

When the Wen family fell into bankruptcy, she became their final transaction - sold into the darkness like a commodity. What followed were years of torment so cruel that they blurred the line between life and death. Her body bore the scars of violence; her soul learned the silence of survival.

And yet, she lived.

By sheer luck - or perhaps the stubborn will of someone who refused to die - she found her way back. Broken, yes. But breathing. She returned to the city that had forgotten her, only to discover a truth more devastating than any pain she'd endured.

Her family hadn't cared. Not then. Not now. To them, she had been nothing but a transaction - and even her survival was an inconvenience.

Have you ever wondered what your funeral would be like if you died one day? Qiu Xue had attended several funerals, including her paternal grandfather's, paternal grandmother's, maternal grandfather's, and maternal grandmother's. Every one of them, without exception, had been a traditional funeral where men were superior to women. From childhood to adulthood, and from observing norms to questioning them, were those traditional rituals and customs truly unshakable? Family, friends, work, daily life, and the Internet-no matter where she went, everything was filled with the framework of traditional gender roles. The harsh voices, every day, every minute, every second, never stopped and never changed. Qiu Xue longed for light, but being in the darkness, she could not find the world of light. All she could do was write down her fantasies in a notebook, imagining and expressing herself page after page. "In this life, I've often struggled with gender inequality. Do I really have to face the same troubles that plagued me throughout life in this final journey?" "If this means the soul will be in pain and no place to return to, then so be it." "As someone already dead, I no longer fear pain, I no longer fear loneliness." "What I fear are the depressions that haunted me while I was alive." "All I want is to be free in this last stretch of the road, even if only for a short while, I'd still take it." "I just want to be, once again, happy." She fell into darkness but still held onto a small glimmer of hope. She escaped the world, found safety in the snow globe, and shut herself into that tiny world. The world of the snow globe was simple and beautiful, free from the hustle and bustle of reality. It was a pure land in her heart and an ideal world. But one day, such beauty was eroded, and the snow globe malfunctioned. As if foreshadowing something, the broken snow globe could not be repaired. It seemed to hide some secret. It was both the end and the beginning.

It's been almost an year now, since Wei Ying and Lan Zhan parted at the hill just outside the territories of Gusu, now Lan Wangi often finds himself playing their song at night instead of Inquiry and the change is soothing for the whole Cloud Recesses. The song of Inquiry never reached his beloved, but will his own melody reach him? "Have mercy!" "Mercy ? Now where have I heard this before....." The voice was almost petulant, like a spoiled child demanding treats. "You didn't listen to him when he asked for mercy. Then heaven's tell me. Why. Should. I?"
