A son returns home to the family sheep station after a 15 year absence upon hearing of his parents murder/suicide. The manner in which they died is beyond his comprehension and Mason has no choice but to clean up the mess. His plan was never to set foot on family soil again, leaving all the disappointment, judgement and anger behind along with what was going to be his inheritance. An inheritance he never wanted and refused to claim. And that therein may lie the problem. From the property left to wrack and ruin and a discovery so horrifying it rocks him to his very core, Mason learns that his family kept secrets that are hard to imagine. What happened at Coalbriar Station once he left all those years ago and was it his leaving that started it all or was there always a darkness at play. What insanity arose that not only Mason but the whole community will find unfathomable and hard to ever forget? More Than a Journey home is my first attempt at writing in over 25 years and will surprise me as much as the reader as we follow Mason along on what is sure to be a hell of a journey home.

A tale of love not told in the light, but a tale told in the shadows. Of broken chains and bleeding hearts learning how to beat again. Once a slave, always a slave. It didn't matter how much you'd like to deny the fact; it wasn't possible. One couldn't outrun fate and time itself. No one was born free. So why did everyone seek freedom, despite knowing it was unobtainable? The reason was simple: because it hurt to live being chained. Building trust with a person who has known hell itself all their life wasn't bound to be easy or pretty. Hidden beneath the layers can hide the cruelest things. A past a person would want to forever bury. He wore a mask to survive. But what happens when someone sees through it? 'He was supposed to be a savior. Instead, he unearthed every buried scar that I swore no one would ever see.' For a moment he hated having his scars being unveiled. But after a while, he noticed that wasn't the case. ------------ This story explores themes of trauma, emotional healing, and much more sensitive themes. Reader discretion is advised. (If you read all this you can skip the part that says: "Part I: Unearthing buried scars.")
