He was sent to kill a king.
Not just any king-but Lucien Valez, the mafia sovereign whispered about in blood and fear. A man above alphas, untouchable, ENIGMA.

Raghav was chosen because no one would ever notice him. A beta, small and silent, the kind of man who blends into the shadows. Perfect to slip past guards. Perfect to get close. Perfect to kill.

But perfection doesn't always go to plan.

Lucien noticed. The ghost in the background, the trembling servant with lowered eyes-the one who should have been invisible. A spill of water, a stifled breath, a pair of eyes that lingered too long. Where others saw nothing, Lucien saw him.

And once the king sees you, he doesn't look away.

Now assassin and enigma circle each other, a game more dangerous than either imagined.

Raghav was sent to end him. Lucien had to eleminate him.

As in a world built on blood and power, only one truth matters-

Who will kill?

Who will be consumed?

Pak! My hand stings at the affect of the slap making me feel how real this is. My brother was blasting the music too loudly in the house. I guess he didn't hear it. And I guess he wouldn't care even if he did. But I felt it resonate in my room. I stare at his face. I don't know what other people would react like when your best friend kisses you out of the blue. But mine was that and the slap was instinctive. I see his expression which showed that he was expecting this from me. He was half apologetic is what I felt. He looks up at me holding his cheek which I just slapped and I thought he was handsome at that moment, out of the 15 years we've known each other. Weird but I couldn't help it. I gulp and he takes a step forward and I move back as a reflex. I don't know if it was a right decision when I came out to him and now I can't go back anyway. But will I regret it, is the question. He keeps advancing as I move back until my back hits the wall. He looks at me dead in the eyes. Aravind comes out to his best friend from childhood, Devanand, only to suddenly find out that Devanand was also confused about his feelings. Read it to find out if they will find a middle ground and the clarity they want. Disclaimer from Aravind : Do not let your best friend flirt with you ! It is not good for your heart !
