backstory
To understand my story, you need to know what came before. Fifty-six years ago, the world changed forever. The beasts of the moon, the werewolves, had grown tired of hiding among humans. They feared extinction and decided to claim the world as their own. Cities fell in flames, armies were crushed, and humans were forced into districts, stripped of freedom, treated as second-class citizens.
A year later, they announced the Choosing every year, humans aged sixteen to eighteen from each district would be selected to attend the werewolf academy. There, we were groomed to serve as breeding mates or obedient servants.
That's where my story begins, the day the Choosing came for me.
