Alice has felt nothing but a suffocating loneliness ever since the death of her mother and baby brother in a house fire five years ago. A suspected arson; no one was ever  convicted.
The loss of them left her eyes dead, her heart cold, and her emotions dulled. She feels caged. Invisible bars of steel closing in on her, keeping her from the real world in which she once relished. They were her happiness, and someone, somewhere took that from her.
