Anastasia "Anya" Karea was raised in Hydra's shadows, hidden away in a tower where they tested the limits of her terrifying gift: the power to break matter down to its atoms and rebuild it again. From the age of six to ten, she knew only cold walls, steel doors, and the endless demand to destroy and recreate. When the Avengers tore Hydra's fortress apart, they found her - fragile, underfed, and more weapon than girl.

Now seventeen, Anya lives among the heroes who saved her, trying to learn what it means to be human rather than Hydra's experiment. Haunted by silence and the ghosts of her past, she finds an unlikely anchor in those who rescued her.

But Hydra doesn't forget its creations. And when shadows from her past return, Anya will be forced to decide if she is still the experiment Hydra made... or something new entirely.
