It stained her hands, her dress, the earth beneath her knees. Seven bodies lay in a circle around her, their faces pale and eyes glassy, lifeless. Her friends. Her fault.
She hadn't meant for it to happen. One word whispered in anger, one careless dare thrown at the night, and the shadows had answered. The price of her fury had been their lives.
Now the silence pressed in, thick and merciless, broken only by her ragged sobs.

A voice. Low. Velvet. Hungry.
"You called," it said, slipping from the darkness like smoke. "And I have come."
Her head snapped up. He stood at the edge of the circle-tall, terrible, beautiful in the way only monsters could be. The air warped around him, heavy with heat and promise.
"Please," she whispered, her voice breaking. "Bring them back. Anything-anything, I'll give."
The figure smiled, sharp and slow, his eyes glinting with wicked delight.
"Anything?" he echoed. He stepped closer, and the shadows followed, curling at his heels like loyal beasts. "Then you will summon us all-one by one. And for each friend's soul you beg for... you will give me a piece of your own."
She froze, her heart stopping as the truth clawed at her throat.
Seven friends. Seven bargains.
Seven sins.
And her soul was the only currency.
