On the farm, a dog named Pucks grapples with the philosophy and reality of being a guard dog as he must discharge the distrust among his protections, keep an oath to his master, and stop himself from giving in to the sorrow of sending wolves to starve. Will Pucks succumb to the trauma and watch as all of the sheep he begs to protect perish? Will his owner succumb to age? And will the sheep turn on Pucks? Well, to figure any of that out, you're going to have to read this-and trust me, it might be short, but it's definitely a tragedy.
