Wednesday returns to Nevermore as the new school year has started. But when she enters her shared dorm room with her bubbly werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair expecting to be greated by a bright colorful room filled with plushies and kpop music playing. She sees how Enid's side of the room was empty like there was a bed and a desk but they weren't very colorful and Enid like at all. Wednesday then hears Enid wasn't going to be in Nevermore High anymore instead her parents had sent her to a werewolf school. Not any werewolf school Wolfcrest.

(Wolfcrest wasn't just any school; rumors painted it as a place where young werewolves were *broken* into compliance-forced transformations under threat of silver cages until they could howl on command like good little pets for proud bloodlines who cared more about pedigree than personhood.)
