In the land of Compaston magic has been outlawed by King Easton after the Dark War, the war against magic. If caught using magic you will be executed. Trise a secret mage sets on the journey to the heart of Compaston and is met with the arrogant Prince Weston. Prince Weston may come of as arrogant, yet he is truly hiding the immense weight of the expectations of being the sole heir to the throne while always feeling as if he is failing. Prince Weston is close with Lady Paloma his father's ward and best friend who is more of sister. Lady Paloma has a heart of fire when it comes to protecting the ones she loves and the only people she deeply care for are Weston and her servant Scarlett. Scarlett has been Lady Paloma's servant since they were kids and feel as if they are best friends, she may not have much in terms of money but the people she has is enough for her. After Trise saves Prince Weston's life he is awarded to being his servant while hiding his identity and keeping his destiny of saving Compaston. Betrayal and treachery splits the land as a grasp for power. They all mutually become closer as a family and while trauma causes Lady Paloma and Trise to embark on a journey together cementing their bond in a new romantic light. While Prince Weston is left solely with Scarlett who comforts him in a way he has never had that makes him fall for her regardless of the societal laws that a prince cannot marry a servant.
