The Last Letter is a poignant story about friendship, love, regret, and the enduring power of promises. It follows the lifelong bond between Martha and Eleanor, two girls who grow up inseparable, united by shared dreams and a secret symbol, the color red, which represents the depth and intensity of their connection. Their friendship is tested when Thomas, a charming young man, enters their lives. Both are drawn to him, but he ultimately chooses Eleanor, shattering the vow the girls made to never let a third person come between them. Martha withdraws, carrying guilt and jealousy for decades, while Eleanor's life unfolds with love, marriage, and quiet regrets. Through a series of letters, Eleanor reaches across the years, keeping their bond alive even when Martha cannot respond. The story culminates in the discovery of the last letter, in which Eleanor reaffirms the red thread of their friendship and her forgiveness. Martha, finally facing her own regrets, writes her response, finding closure and realizing that true friendship can endure even after heartbreak, time, and mistakes. At its heart, The Last Letter explores the beauty and fragility of friendship, the consequences of choices, and the healing power of forgiveness. The recurring symbol of red embodies love, loyalty, and the promise of an unbreakable connection that transcends time.

16 year old Lucille Dun gets diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and has less than a month to live. All she wants is a normal life so she makes the tough decisions of not telling her friends. See how her perspective changes after she finds out about her 2-3 week death time limit and how her friends react when she leaves a note for them after her death day. (My writing skills are better than my descriptive skills) Really sad story, it's based off a dream i had. I'm not to sure if these facts about cancer are true or not but I tried to do some research on it. But this story is mostly made for the reveal of the notes and not as much of other genres.
