I rip my hand away, fumbling for my bow. The arrow trembles between my fingers. One shot-one call-and the cell would drop him 30,000 feet.

But I can't let go.

Tears sting my eyes. My arms shake from the effort of holding the string back. "Do I know you, Loki Laufeyson?! Is there a reason I can't seem to kill you?!"

He takes a step back, pain flashing through his features. "No," he says softly. "You don't know me. You just... remind me of someone I once knew."

"Who?" I whisper.

"She was my everything," he says, voice breaking. "But she was taken from me. Lost. I was told I'd find her again, but now..." His head drops. "Now I fear she's gone forever."

My throat closes. "Can you tell me about her?"

"There's nothing to tell," he murmurs. "Only that I swore to love and protect her-for eternity."

Phase one needs some serious editing and expansion. However I want to finish a good chunk of my story before I do so.

This story will not have very long lasting "happy" moments. It has angst tagged for a reason.
