"I do," he cut her off, stepping closer, so close he could feel the heat of her breath. "I understand every damn part of it. The fear. The past. The walls you've built so high no one's ever gotten through-except me."
She shook her head, but he saw the crack in her defenses. He touched her face, his thumb brushing away a tear.
