The rooftop scene played in slow motion in her eyes. Her boyfriend's hands wrapped around her best friend, their lips locked, their laughter echoing in the crisp morning air.

Her heart didn't just break it turned to dust.

The voices in her head chuckled darkly, whispering like shadows:
"If you had chosen him... you wouldn't be in pain. He would never betray you. He has been watching, waiting... a red flag to the world, but to you... a green light."

She staggered back, her breath trembling. "Who... who are you?" she whispered, pressing her hands to her ears.

"We are your choices. Your paths. And the gangster who scares everyone? He would rather die than see you cry."

The voices faded, but their words rooted in her chest.

The next day in class, she could barely focus. Everyone knew her as the quiet girl who never caused trouble, but now her world tilted sideways. When she glanced at the back corner, she caught him staring Raven, the school's infamous gangster. He leaned against his chair lazily, tattoos peeking from under his sleeve, but his eyes those sharp, storm colored eyes softened the moment they met hers.

She quickly looked away, cheeks burning.

At lunch, she found her seat empty. Her supposed best friend didn't sit beside her anymore. Her ex avoided her completely, as if she was the one at fault. She tried to eat, but her throat closed up.

Then a tray slammed down across from her.

"You're not eating," Raven muttered, sitting down uninvited.

Her eyes widened. "Why are you-"

"Because you look like hell," he cut in. "And because I told myself if I ever see you cry over someone who isn't me, I'll make them regret it."

Her stomach knotted. Was he joking? Threatening? Or... protecting?

Before she could answer, the voices whispered again-only she could hear them:
"See? He burns for you. Dangerous to others, safe for you. Don't push him away..."

Hidden Truth by Bluey1107
29 parts Complete
Carol is dropped into the plot of her favourite crime novel as a tragic side character with the same name. The character who shared her name was an unfortunate cannon fodder who died to advance the plot and further, the protagonist's drive to solve the crime and avenge his junior officer who was murdered by the final boss. Carol was only mentioned briefly. Maybe a total of 5 lines were used to describe her. She was an intern at the station fresh out of the police academy at the ripe age of 19. She wasn't even aware of the main case that the plot revolved around. The only reason to explain her death was being at the wrong place at the wrong time, which caused her to bump directly into the main villain as he was escaping the protagonist's chase midway through the book. The villain took her hostage as he noted her badge and lack of protective equipment and then killed her when the protagonist tried to negotiate terms rather than simply accepting his demands. Although the villain pulled the trigger, Carol couldn't help cursing out the protagonist when she read this scene as she felt he was equally responsible for her death. Carol ended up finishing the book anyway and as she read the last chapter a sense of frustration overcame her and she left a 'strongly worded' comment for the author, cursing out the protagonist as stupid and irresponsible, she preached that there was no reason to have killed off a 19-year-old girl like Carol (from the book) the way they did and how if a person with common sense faced that situation the girl would have lived. So when Carol awoke in the young girl's body, she had a few thoughts: what the hell is happening? how do I avoid dying? can I speed up the plot to save more lives? Along the way, Carol discovers a surprising ability hidden in the cannon fodders DNA. She has a mystical ability to physically see when a person lies and the actual truth. I'll update as soon as the writers block leaves me be.

This would mean all of their kids got along, right? But that wasn't the case. Natalie Briggs had a good relationship with the Walter kids although, it was very different feeling with the two Garcia boys. Something about them drawled her away, which made her adventure with Isaac Garcia even more interesting. Out of the blue, Isaac's flirty demeanor that he used on every girl was suddenly turned to Natalie, as if he wanted her attention. It was weird, but safe to say she found this side of himself very amusing.
