During the Great Mushroom War, our main character was one of the few lucky survivors when everything was destroyed, broken, or shattered. The world as we knew it was gone - replaced by monsters, zombies, and vampires.

Our main character, William Hunt, grew up in this broken world, forced to fend for himself after becoming the sole survivor of a group of people who were killed and eaten by monsters. Growing up in constant danger left him distant and untrusting.

Eventually, he met Marceline - a half-demon, half-vampire - and the two began working together to hunt down vampires. But when one hunt went wrong, William was bitten and thrown into the ocean.

A thousand years later, he washed up on the shores of Ooo and was woken by a human boy and a talking dog. This is where his story begins again.
