Fae never expected to face a ghost from her past.

As a teenager in Jakarta, far from her birthplace because of her parents' business, Fae found comfort in her school's vibrant mix of cultures. It was there, in an after-school course, that she met Joshua-a British boy who, like her, had been uprooted and dropped into this foreign world. What began as a chance encounter soon tugged at her heartstrings. She fell, hard. But he was never on the same page.

Now, years later in Ottawa, she has built a quiet, steady life. Far from the girl she once was, far from the shadows of her past. Until destiny, with cruel precision, throws Josh back into her orbit.

The question is: can she go on with her life and keep the door on that dismal past sealed, or will the shadows slip through the cracks, pulling her back into the blackness she thought she'd left behind?
