In a world where magic is everything, two boys are born with none. While Asta trains his body to defy their fate, his brother, Askin, would much rather take a nap. Found abandoned together at the Hage Village church, the trio of Asta, Yuno, and Askin grow up with a shared dream: to become the Wizard King. But Askin's approach to this grand ambition is one of lazy observation and cynical amusement.

Beneath his indolent and eccentric exterior, however, lies a terrifying and alien power. Askin is not just mana-less; he is a living anomaly, a vessel for an ability he calls The Deathdealing. He can analyze, manipulate, and master the "absolute lethal dose" of any substance he's exposed to-including the very mana that defines their world. By taking a hit, he can render an opponent's magic completely harmless to himself, and worse, turn their own power into a deadly poison that kills them from the inside out.

Armed with a mysterious five-leaf clover grimoire that serves as a research journal for a sealed, ancient devil, Askin is dragged into a world of deadly missions, political intrigue, and threats that could shatter the kingdom. He is not a hero. He is not a villain. He is a scientist in a world of wizards, and his grand experiment has only just begun. Can a man who can master the formula for death find a reason to fight for life?
