Inbetween Two Psychos | Inanimate Insanity AU [ON HIATUS]
It was just a normal day at Hotel OJ for Lightbulb. That was, until Test Tube kidnapped Paintbrush for inhumane expiriments, and an unknown assailant has shot and killed Marshmallow. Now, OJ and Paper are trying to capture the culprit, while Lightbulb realizes she's gonna go out by one side or another. This fic is split into multiple acts: Act 1: Hiding in Plain Sight (Chapters 1-11) "Lightbulb feels cornered after Test Tube kidnaps Paintbrush and multiple other contestants, and someone starts murdering her teammates. All the while, OJ and Paper try to figure out what's going on." Act 2: Whiplash (Chapters 12-) "Test Tube, now stuck underground, grows closer with Fan. Meanwhile, Lightbulb attempts to live with the consequences of not acting on her suspicions earlier." TW: Gore, violence, mentions of suicide, torture, and a lot of cliffhangers (sorry) NOTE: This takes place after II2 18. Some lore may be inconsistent, such as Hotel OJ being rebuilt instead of MePad Manor being built instead. (Also, S4 is not canon to this fic, although some characters will get mentioned). Artificial Normalcy
Lightbulb wakes up in Hotel OJ to find everything... perfect. Too perfect. Everyone's acting like the best possible versions of themselves - Knife is gentle and soft-spoken, Taco and Pickle are happily together with no tension, and Balloon has completely dropped his desperate people-pleasing act. Even MePhone seems more stable and kind. At first, Lightbulb thinks this is amazing! All the conflict and drama that used to stress her out are gone. But something feels fundamentally wrong. The conversations are too polite, the smiles too consistent, and everyone keeps insisting they've "always been this way." When Lightbulb tries to bring up past arguments or drama, everyone looks at her with genuine confusion. "Lightbulb, why would you think Knife ever threatened anyone?" "Taco would never manipulate people, that's such a mean thing to suggest!" They seem genuinely hurt that she'd imply they were ever anything but perfect. She has to choose: pretend to be the "normal" version of herself that they want, or risk everything to restore her friends' true selves. But the more she fights against the artificial normalcy, the more she questions if maybe being "fixed" wouldn't be so bad after all... Content warning: Contains descriptions of medical content such as needles, surgeries, and existential stress. Also implied Lightbrush and a tad bit of Mephoj. Akagi x Oc Title pretty much sums it all. Its about the exchange of love letters between Oc and Akagi. (crap at description, I don't own the pic, credits to the original artist.
