(FIRST DRAFT, INCOMPLETE BUT FINISHED) She used to be normal-until now.

Accepting to be a subject for a 'minor science experiment' for a large amount of money is a grave mistake for the Durand family. Now Cecil Durand is coping with unnatural abilities and the burden of trying to hide the fact that she's a complete freak of science in the town of Grimsby.

But without the hindrance of money problems, the Durands move to big city Toronto in hopes of a better life-and the lesser chance of someone finding out Cecil's supernatural callings. They never expected things to get worse as Cecil is targeted by a villainous character and his organization for her unnatural skills. They never guessed that she would become the apple's eye of said villain that would do anything to have her-even destroy the one boy she cares about who doesn't think she's a freak with her supernatural abilities.

Along with that, Cecil isn't the only science subject and not all have been lucky to escape with their lives or their sanity...

"Three weeks. That's how long I got to have drama-free. I'm not sure what is happening to me or to Oakwood. Nothing's the same since I rolled into town and it just keeps getting weirder. Suspicious agents in suits roam the streets without an explanation. They're staring straight at me. The new Chemistry teacher is NOT who he says he is. I'm doing things I never thought I could. Like, mutant-level things... Lauren, Luc's dead twin sister, hid something from everyone. Something important that may have lead to her demise and that could lead to ours. Hunters are in town. I never knew four words could contain so much dread and terror. I'd rather deal with the Wanderers. I'm on the brink of a breakdown. I need help..." BOOK #2 IN THE SERIES! Ignorance is not bliss... In the wake of ridding Oakwood of Wanderers, other dangers come creeping in and they're somehow linked to Luc's absent twin. The past returns to haunt the mutants in inconspicuous ways. Riley's life is yet again in jeopardy, but this time she's not alone. Luc and his family are all thrown into the teetering balance. More secrets are uncovered. A trap dawns on them all. Invisible threats start crawling from all directions. Who is the real enemy? TW : behaviours of depression and PTSD are displayed. I don't name them, but one of the character will be struggling a lot. It may not be suitable for everybody. Other adult matters are briefly included, but nothing explicit or intense. Rewriting specifications : the main points of the story and end of the book will remain the same, am just going to change a few ways of getting there and adding some extra spice. Feel free to pause the read until the REWRITING sign disappears.

WARNING: CONTAINING AMOUNTS OF SASS PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TO MANKIND In the city of NYC--- Ok. Hold up. First of all, New York City. What, are ya gonna assume everyone here knows what NYC is? Anyway, this is about two people. I can almost hear you rolling your eyes. Another cliché teen fiction with a bad boy and a good girl? Nope. This is about superheroes. I can still hear you rolling your eyes. Superheroes. Like in comic books? Like people with super speed and mutant powers? Yes. But this isn't about the fight they have. More about the lives they lead without the masks. But just keep in mind, people who live in the world have all different skin colours. Do not assume my characters are of one unless I state them explicitly. and diversity is welcome here in my novel! Anyhow, back to the story. Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing. And if you can name all the references in this book, you truly are a gift to mankind. Fangirl out.

If I cannot be loved I'll be wanted. "There was basically nothing that the scientists had not altered and played with, changed it's appearance or structure. Directed electricity through it to made it move or to restart a heart, by using machines and generators. The difference was that the Gifted only needed some power of will." "The air in the rooms had grown heavier and hotter, Eliza couldn't breathe. She stood outside the bathroom, in the corner, where the hallway opened to the huge living room where the party was the most alive. Someone had gotten up to the coffee table and was dancing themselves to death. In the middle of the floor there was a honey blond boy with pearls around his neck and five people glued to him, unbuttoning his shirt, kissing his collarbone. " The weight of being expected to do great things had dragged Eliza and Kal down their whole lives. Whilst trying to find comfort to their hurt they manage to unravel truths that were hidden for a reason. And when every hand around you is soaked with unknown blood, who can you trust? The Scientist is the first book out of three to tell this story of young love, power, morality and madness. WARNING! Book rated K16 This book talks about heavy topics such as depression, de@th, child abuse and sèx. It also views over ideologies and religion, politics and other often very different feelings provoking topics. This is not a thing to comment negatively about, you have been informed. Other than that I hope you enjoy the story and (this is Wattpad so it might not be a surprise but) just so you know English isn't my first language and I'd be happy if you can inform me of some misuse of words so I can get better. Remember to be nice :) I OWN THIS STORY AND ALL IT'S RIGHTS. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT PLAGIARIZING IS A CRIME. (hey that rhymed) (hey that too) (enjoy the book, i love you :)

---Book of the Month 2018 winner in the sci-fi category from awardofthemonth2018--- ---1st place winner in teen fic Writer's Circle Awards by concinnitycircle--- A/N: This book is action-packed with a sprinkle of mystery all wrapped in a science-fiction teen drama! I know. It's quite a mouthful. Cue the summary! *** Skylar is born with predetermined odds against her. She's been isolated since birth from her true nature and her peers in the name of an experiment. A change of plans cause the people in charge to order her relocation to Oakwood, a microscopic town swarming with mutants like her. They silently follow her journey as Riley is confronted to strange locals, a boy that hates her guts and nightmarish monsters lurking around her house. Throughout the series, she slowly but surely discovers truths about herself she could never fathom... and that there is a daunting trap waiting to snap. One life. One experiment. Endless lies. Some cussing and violence invovled. THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK OF A SERIES AND IT GETS PROGRESSIVELY DARKER 😈 Disclaimer : My story is inspired from Jennifer Armentrout's series Lux (basically, credits to her because this wouldn't exist otherwise). There are many differences but also several similarities. The plot isn't centered the same, either way. I just have fun writing and twisting up my favorite elements.
