Lyra Croft grew up on the streets. She doesn't remember much of her childhood before the age of ten, but she reckons it was all pretty much the same. Hopping from foster home to foster home until she'd finally had enough of that life and with that, decided to run away. At age eleven she started practicing the art of street magic. She would watch other magicians on street corners and pick up a few tricks here and there. Lyra managed to get by, thieving, scheming, and pulling out card tricks.

By age sixteen she was a professional. She had a stage name, and real preformances- not just on the streets- and then disaster struck. The vanishing act. One of the simplest magic tricks to date. Usually. Lyra had preformed the trick plenty of times, more than she'd like to admit- but this time. The mechanisms failed. And somebody ended up dead.

Lyra hasn't touched magic since. She dyed her hair, changed her name. Became and FBI agent. She swore off magic forever. Well, until she met Jack.
