Poetical Raindrops Series
Benjamin stood in the rain because there was nowhere else to go.
Thunder cracked overhead, close enough to rattle his ribs. Streetlights blurred into long streaks of gold as rain poured down, turning the road beneath his feet into glass. His clothes clung to him, heavy, cold, but he didn't move. He barely breathed.
Cars rushed past, spraying water, strangers sealed safely inside their own lives. No one looked at him twice. To them, he was just another man caught in a storm.
They couldn't see the way his hands trembled.
Or the truth pressing painfully against his chest.
The rain whispered his name.
Not loudly. Not all at once. Just enough for him to notice. Just enough that he couldn't ignore it. It wrapped around him, soaked into him, as if it had been waiting, for this moment, for him.
Benjamin took a step forward, his heart pounding.
He didn't know where the road would lead.
He didn't know what he was about to lose.
But he knew one thing with absolute certainty:
By the end of the night, nothing in his life would ever be the same.
