*Based on real events in my life* Michael Mantez is a Marine Corps infantryman, his life defined by discipline, duty, and the rigid structure of military service. But beneath the uniform, his heart longs for a different kind of connection-one that he struggles to find within the hyper-masculine world of the Corps. He is drawn to the men around him, but these are not fairy tales. Michael's journey into love is a series of unconventional heartbreaks. He falls for men who are often married or already in relationships, sometimes unknowingly, sometimes giving in to the temptation of a forbidden moment. He's a seeker of love in a world where it's often hidden or complicated by circumstance, and each broken promise and secret affair leaves a scar. This is a story of a man navigating the complexities of love and desire in a world that wasn't built for him, and the emotional toll of loving those who are never truly his. It's a raw and honest look at finding intimacy and heartache in the unlikeliest of places.

And though he tries to fight it as hard as he can, he can't win. -Scott- A college drop-out trying to make a few extra bucks by working in a diner that seems to attract the oddest people. He hates the fact that writing down orders or cleaning up tables that some annoying kids messed on is his idea for a career plan.
