This scene captures the tension of that awakening, a glimpse into the infinite questions that drive the larger story, and reveals unsettling and worrying truths. It is taken from the introduction of a novel I'm writing about a man named Slade, who begins to question the very nature of his reality.
In the quiet of a lab, his thoughts spiral outward, where what he sees, what he knows, and what he believes now all feel fragile, incomplete, as if the world itself is only a fragment of something far larger. Unknowingly, he is being observed by a silent watcher whose own existence hints at layers of reality stretching beyond the human eye.
Where did this watcher come from? Another world? Another universe? Only one way to find out...

It was him, and the uncertainty of what truly happened. Was he acting innocently or natively? Could it have been jealousy? Or maybe what was once sweet to him turned bitter. Deciding to finally find out the truth, she grabbed her favorite wand, her strongest crystal, and hurried to see the High Priestess Ade-Ifatayo. Deep down Tatum knew what this divination would show, and that she knew she would have to walk through the door of spirit, into the darkness.
