The town of Ezioma lay under a restless sky, rain thundering down in torrents as though the heavens themselves had split open. The zinc rooftops of the small Nigerian town clattered like drums, and the streets, usually thick with red dust, had transformed into flowing rivers of brown water. Puddles formed in every corner, swelling until they joined the rushing gutters.

It hurt. "L-let me go, you, you're hurting me!" I looked up at him scared, his eyes were now completely dark, and the next thing I noticed were pointed teeth poking out from his lips. I screamed and pushed at him but he didn't budge. I then raised my knee and kneed him between the legs with all my force, and he dropped like a rock, holding his groin. Run. I took my chance.
