Svetlana Romanoff, fraternal twin sister to Natasha Romanoff, was born in 1984 and raised in the Red Room. Unlike Natasha, Svetlana was marked from an early age as something more. Whispers of strange abilities followed her-unexplainable phenomena, shadows moving at her command, and the unsettling sense that death itself lingered near her. She quickly surpassed her peers, even outshining Natasha in skill.
When the twins attempted to escape the Red Room together, they were discovered. In a devastating betrayal, Natasha revealed that she had told Dreykov about her sister-an insurance policy to ensure her own freedom. Whispering an apology, Natasha abandoned her twin, choosing survival over family.
Dragged away by guards, Svetlana's latent powers erupted. Her eyes filled with swirling black smoke, and within seconds, every Red Room agent lay dead. Standing among the bodies were Tony Stark, his bodyguards, and a team of shadowy operatives. While his men froze in horror, Tony's pragmatism took over-he ordered Svetlana brought to the car, demanding a doctor on standby.
Taken to the United States under Tony's protection, Svetlana begins to bond with him. Traumatized and scarred, she clings to him with a fierce, obsessive loyalty that borders on possessive. She becomes his shadow, his protector, and, at times, his darkest secret. But she left that life behind, going to America, and becoming a 'Avenger'. Only problem is, the people who trained her want her back. And they will take whatever they have to. Here is where Annika comes in. She is the youngest girl ever to graduate from the Red room at the young age of thirteen. As a baby, she was found left by the gates of the building, abandoned. Left with only a first name, they decided to take her in. She grew up there, starting her training much younger than the six year olds that are dropped off. With that start, and simply never knowing anything else, made her much more dangerous than any other girl there. She started missions at six, being able to do more damage because of her younger age. They found another mission for her, one that was unique from all of her others. She had to befriend the young Spider-Man, and get him to show her the other Avengers. So she could bring the older Black Widow home. Part 2: Annika and Peter are headed off for an eventful year at MIT college, trying to live life to the absolute fullest when strange things start happening around the school.
