The bottle spun around in a circle before coming to a stop, the neck pointing directly at me.
"Truth or dare!!" The emcee, my arch-nemesis Sandra, smirked mischievously as she stared me down, her eyes glinting with trouble.
A sly grin spread across my face as I licked my lower lip, the bad girl reputation preceding me. "You know it's always dare."
Sandra's smirk grew wider, clearly entertained by my response. She paused for dramatic effect before dropping the bombshell.
"I dare you to kiss Quinlan Blackwood."
My eyes widened in horror, my thighs clenching together as my fists balled into tight balls.
Who didn't know Quinlan?
The nerdiest, most boring, and shyest boy in our school.
One problem - I was the committed queen bee, and people like him were out of my league.
Kissing him would be social suicide, the ultimate reputation killer.
Sandra, however, sensing my hesitation, pressed on, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"I thought the school queen never breaks her promises. Are you in or out, Your Highness?"
She curtsied and I glared at her, my expression turned icy.
"Fine. Don't forget I know where you live, Sandra. You haven't seen the last of me."
With that, I sauntered towards Quinlan, who was sitting at the corner of the restaurant room, nursing a glass of soda.
He looked stunned to see me approaching, mostly because we never crossed paths.
Our social circles were lightyears apart, and I'd never had a reason to acknowledge his existence.
Until now.
I stopped in front of him, my hands on my hips, trying to appear confident despite my inner turmoil.
"Hey, Quinlan! Can I call you Quin, much cooler and simple!"
Quinlan looked up at me, his brown eyes wide with surprise, his messy black hair falling across his forehead.
He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed hard. "Who are you?"
"Your mouth may say you hate me," he whispered, "But your hands...they say otherwise." His eyebrows raised pointedly at my touch on his chest, face wearing a smug and condescending look.
"Shit."
