Rosa never thought six months could change her life.
At fourteen, she leaves Sydney to return to her childhood home in Bologna for an exchange. Between family dinners with her Nonna and Nonno, late-night talks with her cousin Francesca, and struggling with her faded Aussie-Italian accent, Rosa doesn't expect much more than schoolwork and homesickness.
Then she meets Kimi Antonelli.
He's just the boy seated next to her in class - quiet, sharp-eyed, with a crooked smile and whispers of karting talent. But soon their conversations turn into walks home, gelato dates, and feelings Rosa never expected. When Kimi asks her to be his girlfriend under the Christmas lights, she says yes, even though she knows her exchange won't last forever.
When Rosa returns to Sydney, they make a promise: long distance. And even across thousands of miles, they know it will work. They know they'll be together forever, that neither could ever betray the other, that what they have is real.
Four years later
They're eighteen now. Kimi isn't just the boy from Bologna anymore- he's racing in Formula 1 for Mercedes. But when they see each other again, the spark is still there, stronger than ever. They know, without a doubt, that this is just the beginning of their forever.
The man that I thought I hated. Was now holding my waist and I was sat before him in a quite compromising position.
"You know Lando can't give you what I can." He says quietly but loud enough for me to hear. Butterflies, for the third time tonight, awaken in my belly. But this time it was a more intense and intimate feeling. He kisses my ear lobe a couple times before slowly leaning away from me. A smirk plastered over his face, but still looking serious at the same time.
