Young smilodon siblings Somber and Blithe find themselves in a stressful time. Winter has swept though the Sigil Makers' territory, painting their meadows white and baring their trees. Prey is running low, so their leader Woe is forced to make a difficult decision to follow a strayed herd of bison up north to keep her pack fed.
Winter hasn't only affected our saber-toothed cats, however. The Chaxwana pride is suffering in its cold grip as well, and their smilodon "exchange-hunter" or former kidnappee Phaxsi hopes to not have to meet the doors of Alma'Uraqi too soon.
This story is the third instalment of "The Sigil Makers" series. You don't have to have read the other stories in order to understand what's happening in this one, as they aren't necessarily connected, but this book makes references to its predecessors, so I recommend reading them as well to get the context :p
