She thought the past was buried. Years ago, her father was murdered, and with no leads, the case left to gather dust as she tried to build a quiet life in the shadows. But when the FBI reopens it, everything she's tried to outrun comes rushing back.
Agent Dean Winchester doesn't expect the hostile, sharp-tongued survivor that comes with the case-or the way she challenges him at every turn. She doesn't trust him, doesn't trust the Bureau to solve the case after all this time, and definitely doesn't want his help. But as new threats close in and old secrets resurface, walking away isn't an option for either of them.
What begins as a reluctant partnership soon sparks into something neither of them planned for. And the closer they get to the truth-and to each other-the more dangerous the game becomes.
