In a world where everyone is born with a mark that blooms the moment they find their soulmate, yours bloomed once.

And then it faded.

You've made your peace with it. Or something that looks enough like peace that most people can't tell the difference. You buy flowers for other people's occasions, you smile at other people's bloomed marks, and you tell yourself that the system just wasn't built for everyone.

Then you walk into a small flower shop and meet Lee Wonhee, who has never had a bloom at all and has spent her entire life deciding she doesn't want one.

She is the most careful person you have ever met. She handles living things like she's having private conversations with them. She texts you the name of a flower at 11 PM just so you know what you accidentally said. She shows up to things you didn't ask her to show up to and stands close enough that you stop feeling the absence of whatever you lost.

She is also absolutely, categorically not looking for a soulmate.

Neither are you.

That's the thing about second blooms. They aren't the type to announce themselves. They just quietly become the thing you were always reaching for.
