Doesn't Play Well With Tricksters
In this alternate universe, Loki has been exiled to Midgard when Odin sees through his disguise (Think the end of Thor, The Dark World). He is haunted by his part in the death of his adoptive mother. He has visions of her that may be her talking to him from beyond the veil of death or just his overactive guilty conscience playing tricks on him. Either way, he has promised her he will do everything he can to make up for the things he's done. Even if it takes until the end of time itself. As part of his penance, Loki is restricted to Stark Tower until such time as the team believes he is no longer a threat to the world. As it gives him the opportunity to try to keep his promise, he doesn't argue. Much. Rachael has recently acquired magic from a relative. Shortly after, she was recruited by Stark and moved into Stark Tower to help the team. It's the one place she would never have expected to encounter the God of mischief himself, who happens to be the root of the magic she doesn't trust. (Long story short, Rachael's ancestor Bridgette fell for Loki when he was on Midgard nearly four hundred years ago. Eight months after Odin ordered his sons home, Bridgette had a daughter. Skip about five years of wishing for him, and Bridgette accepts that he's not coming back. She marries and has other children. One of these later children is Rachael's ancestor. Godslayers is about correcting a mistake. A mistake made by three kid geniuses who inherited a Corporate Technology Empire. They attempt to utilize Dark Tech to change the world with a new generation of technologies. Most important of all this new tech was a clean, efficient and totally renewable source of energy given freely to the world, an attempt to usher Earth into a golden age. They never asked their selves if the world was ready. Battle after battle that claimed nations, oceans and a third of the world's population within one year. By the second year, only three factions remained, political amalgams of financial, military and technological interests. High casualty and destructive rates refined combat, and Dark Tech's emerging technologies- unbridled by energy restrictions- were corrupted into a new version of warfare. The BADB Frames took over the battlefield. Exoskeletal marvels- walking tanks. These suits made the soldiers of the future nearly invincible, while giving them destructive abilities of such raw power and precision that conflict was forever altered. The pilots of these suits were almost all pulled from a previously untapped civilian resource: gamers. Suddenly, age was not a restriction. What's left of Dark Tech exists in three Neutral Zones spread throughout the globe. Three "war free" zones that house civilians who wish to remain outside the war. But a shadow beneath what's left of the world's political system upsets this balance and a secret group known only as The Keepers push the factions past their fear of Dark Tech and into the zones of neutrality. Dark Tech unleashes a new faction on the world- a fighting force that has taken high technology and martial skill to a new level.
