"I love you so much! I'll wait for you, okay? Goodbye!" she said with a radiant smile, her flawless teeth shining, her gorgeous face glowing under the dim lights.

Then, before leaving, she leaned in and kissed me-soft, fleeting, yet powerful enough to make my knees weak. I was still dazed when I sat back on the edge of the stage, my eyes following her as she walked away.

I watched her until she stepped outside the bar. It wasn't even a wild bar-more like a restaurant with a cozy vibe. From where I sat, I could still see her clearly through the glass wall, standing outside while waiting for her driver. She waved at me with that same enchanting smile, and without thinking, I found myself waving back, hypnotized by her beauty-those eyes, that face, everything about her.

And then...

Something caught my attention. A red light, faint but steady, hovered near her chest. At first, I thought it was just some reflection, maybe from a passing car. I didn't let my face show any concern, not wanting her to notice my sudden unease.

But as the realization sank in, my heart dropped.

That wasn't just a random red light.

It was a laser.

A sniper's laser-aimed directly at her heart.

I leaned back against the headboard, still feeling a little weak but definitely better than earlier. Mon entered the room, holding a bowl of champorado, its warm, sweet aroma filling the air. "Pinagluto talaga kita. You better eat this, or else, sasakalin kita." she said, sitting on the edge of the bed and handing me the bowl with a small smile. I couldn't help but chuckle, kahit nanghihina pa ako. "Thank you, chef Mon." She rolled her eyes playfully but stayed seated beside me. "Kain na. I made it with love, so you better appreciate it." I took a spoonful and hummed in approval. "Wow, this is so good! Pwede ka na magtayo ng sariling restaurant." "Ngayon mo pa sasabihin 'yan? Dapat ginawa ko na lang itong business." she quipped, laughing softly. As I continued eating, she kept glancing at me, obviously making sure I was okay. When I finished, she leaned over to take the empty bowl from my hands but froze mid-movement. "What?" I asked, seeing her eyes fixate on my face. "May-uhm, chocolate sa gilid ng bibig mo." she said, not moving her gaze. "Ha? Where?" I asked, wiping at the wrong side of my mouth. She sighed in slight frustration. "Dito-" Before I could react further, Mon leaned closer, her face suddenly inches away from mine. My heart skipped a beat, unsure of what she was about to do. But instead of wiping it with her hand or telling me where it was, her lips brushed softly against the corner of my mouth as she gently took the chocolate stain away. I froze, my breath catching as her warmth lingered on my skin for a second longer than necessary. When she pulled back, her cheeks were flushed, but she didn't break eye contact. "There," she said softly, almost in a whisper. I didn't know what to say. My heart was racing, my mind blank. It felt like the world had stopped in that moment, and all I could focus on was her-the softness in her eyes, the pink tint on her cheeks, and the way her lips had just touched mine, even if only briefly.

Being in love with your best friend isn't the ideal life situation but for Zora, it's her only life situation. Secretly harboring her feelings for her best friend, Sierra, Zora pours her emotions into her journal in the form of poetry. After years of keeping her attraction for her friend at bay and trying to deny her feelings by forcing herself to love a boy who unconditionally loves her, Zora's favorite emotional outlet becomes the cause of her life falling apart as the truth finally comes out. ***** It was happening again. It was dark, sunset, I waited for her to be done with volleyball practice 'because she was my ride'. Somehow we wandered from the gym to the football field and we were sitting at the very top of the bleachers staring at each other. Her dark hair mirrored the direction of the wind, the setting sun being replaced by the brightness of her smile. We were sitting so close I could feel her warmth. It was an unusual situation. Friends don't do this. We held eye contact for a long time before I couldn't take it anymore and just closed my eyes. It wasn't real, she was just my friend. Then, I felt her tuck a strand of my curly hair behind my ear. That with the chill of the night sent shivers down my spine and a swarm of butterflies attacked my stomach. I reopened my eyes. If she didn't want me, why did she look at me that way? I held her hand and I held it for so long because I didn't know if we'd have another moment like this. We talk and laugh and she tells me I'm pretty and I ask her if she'd just noticed that and we laugh again. I realize the feelings I felt in that moment were not just the intense feelings of attraction that I felt every time I was with her. Warmth flooded to my face and if it wasn't for my dark complexion, my blush would be noticeable. I look into her dark-colored eyes and I come to the conclusion that I'm royally fucked and I'm probably also in love.

"I don't know what kind of girl you think I am Greg" I mumbled. I was not the kind of girl who slept with guys on a whim. I wanted him, but not enough to abandon all reason. He took a step toward me, ignored my narrowed eyes and wrapped his arms around me. I wriggled and tried to pull away, but he only held me tighter. His face was impossibly close to me, expression serene to my fury. I could feel him already, pressing into my stomach. Fear shot through me, but the anticipation was equal. "I know exactly what kind of girl you are Maddy... that's the problem" He said simply. His lips crashed into mine, tasting every inch of me. I wanted more than anything to pull away, leave and never mention this again.... but I couldn't do it. The feel of him naked, warm and muscular against me rendered me speechless. I couldn't explain it, but our bodies seemed to fit together somehow and the anger I'd felt just a minute ago. That firey anger at him invading my privacy was gradually merging with the previous lust from last night. Now all I felt was an all consuming need for him to touch me. ....................................................................... Maddy Reynolds' life is a mess. Her best friend's brother Greg has just died and her two best friends Mel and Dom aren't speaking to each other. She has no one to talk to about her confusing feelings towards Greg or why Mel is so distant. Then at the funeral, she becomes friends with Tom Winter by pure chance and he seems to be the only one who understands her. And yet.... even he is keeping secrets from her. The sort of secrets that have the power to change everything. Maddy now has to decide to trust him or find out the truth on her own. Things would have been a whole lot simpler if she'd chosen the latter.

•GirlxGirl• |I want to wake each morning in your arms comforted by your oddity seduced by your knowledge of my ways and I want you to crack my heart of glass| "Miss Conner?" I was surprised. I hadn't seen her since last week and figured I never would again given the stunt I had pulled. She looked up and started to walk over. A shiver went down my body as I took her in. The dark blue flannel complimented her long blond hair and blue eyes, while the skinny jeans showed off every curve she had to offer. She was breathtaking. "Hello Shay, how is your night going?" My mind turned to mush as her lovely voice flowed over me. "Uh....um its good, I mean, it's going great." I stammered. She said nothing for a long moment, just watched me with those cool blue eyes. "I'm glad." She said finally. I couldn't hold it back any longer. I took a step closer to her, and I could see her tense out of the corner of my eye. "I just wanted to apologize." I was glad when my voice was steady when I spoke, funny since I'd been a stumbling fool earlier. Miss Conner just watched me. I fought the urge to reach over and shake her. That impenetrable mask that she always wore was driving me crazy! "For what?" My brows furrowed and I stared at my English teacher in confusion. "For kissing you." •This is my first book, so be mindful of the spelling errors and please respect that I am not a published, world-wide known author. Thanks.•

The rooftop scene played in slow motion in her eyes. Her boyfriend's hands wrapped around her best friend, their lips locked, their laughter echoing in the crisp morning air. Her heart didn't just break it turned to dust. The voices in her head chuckled darkly, whispering like shadows: "If you had chosen him... you wouldn't be in pain. He would never betray you. He has been watching, waiting... a red flag to the world, but to you... a green light." She staggered back, her breath trembling. "Who... who are you?" she whispered, pressing her hands to her ears. "We are your choices. Your paths. And the gangster who scares everyone? He would rather die than see you cry." The voices faded, but their words rooted in her chest. The next day in class, she could barely focus. Everyone knew her as the quiet girl who never caused trouble, but now her world tilted sideways. When she glanced at the back corner, she caught him staring Raven, the school's infamous gangster. He leaned against his chair lazily, tattoos peeking from under his sleeve, but his eyes those sharp, storm colored eyes softened the moment they met hers. She quickly looked away, cheeks burning. At lunch, she found her seat empty. Her supposed best friend didn't sit beside her anymore. Her ex avoided her completely, as if she was the one at fault. She tried to eat, but her throat closed up. Then a tray slammed down across from her. "You're not eating," Raven muttered, sitting down uninvited. Her eyes widened. "Why are you-" "Because you look like hell," he cut in. "And because I told myself if I ever see you cry over someone who isn't me, I'll make them regret it." Her stomach knotted. Was he joking? Threatening? Or... protecting? Before she could answer, the voices whispered again-only she could hear them: "See? He burns for you. Dangerous to others, safe for you. Don't push him away..."

I let out a soft Mmm and instantly opened my eyes to see her looking at me with her head slightly tilted to the side and an amused smile playing on her lips. "Do you always have that reaction to things that taste good?" The possibility of a double meaning to her question wasn't lost on me and it surprised me, making me cough. I cleared my throat before answering. "Well, it depends.." I answered carefully. "On what?" She leaned forward slightly with what looked like an almost mischievous glint in her eyes. "On what I'm eating," I fired back sounding a lot more confident than I felt. Her eyebrows went up slightly. *** When Ren stumbles upon a job opportunity, she never thinks that it'll completely change her life.
