🌿 Where Ivy Grows Ivy James is seventeen and already exhausted. She sleeps on a couch in a smoke stained house while her little brother Sammy dreams in the only safe room they have. Her parents are ghosts of who they once were addicted, absent, unreliable. Ivy steals food, works at the library, and does everything she can to keep Sammy from slipping through the cracks. Court ordered therapy is supposed to be just another box to check. Instead, Ivy meets Rowena, a weary counselor who sees too much, and Silas, the boy everyone warns her about angry, reckless, but carrying scars Ivy recognizes. For the first time, Ivy starts to wonder if survival might not be the same thing as living. But when tragedy strikes and the fragile support she's built begins to unravel, Ivy is faced with the one choice she's spent her life avoiding: give in to the darkness that calls to her, or fight harder than ever to keep Sammy and herself safe. Raw, heartbreaking, and ultimately hopeful, Where Ivy Grows is a story about survival, found family, and the small, stubborn roots of hope that take hold even in the most broken places. A nightmare with wild eyes. Thrown behind bars when she was innocent, in more ways than one. Ivy Monroe, well-known by the police for her criminal affiliations and bittersweet nature. She represented purity with a smidge of darkness. Evergreen with dark splotches. Her family comprised of wealth and power disowned her for her faults and cracks along the surface. She was the naive daughter. Now, she was rebellious, hectic and slightly out of her mind. Then she was cut down, framed by those who had once loved her. Incarcerated in a privately owned all-male prison, thanks to her families connections, hidden amongst the dirt. Little did they know that the soil was fertile, perfect for growth. Her sanctimonious; sickly sweet embrace attracted more than just the worms. - There is a refined version of this book available to read instead of this, but since it isn't done yet, feel free to check out this one too.
