Like a tender rain... Depression : A personnal journey of healinh with Christ
While I was writing this 70-pages of personnal journey (sorry about the lenght !), I asked myself: If I were still in that deeply depressed place- Would I have followed it all the way through to the end? My honest answer: Probably not. Even if i wanted so bad to heal. If you don't feel ready right now, save this and come back later. Don't let this become the 15th book on depression that you start and never finish. This will only spiraling down, and that's not the point. I understand the literal exhaustion of living with depression. But if you are ready-and I believe you are-welcome to this journey. Let me introduce myself ! I'm a young Black woman and a Christian who battled with depression for many years. I often felt lost-emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I struggled to identify what I was feeling, understand where it came from, and find support that truly resonated with both my faith and my identity. This guide was born out of that journey-and out of healing. Let's be honest: recovering from depression is hard. Life doesn't stop just because you've decided to get better. You need something stronger than willpower alone. For me, that strength came from my Christian faith. Whether you're a believer or not, if you're struggling with depression, this guide is for you. My Letters to God.
"I feel like I'm going in circles. Like I'm stuck in a cycle and I can't seem to claw my way out of. It's feels like when I found my religion again I started grieving. Like all the things I've ever held in and ignored through others things are finally spilling out of me. It's something I need: to grieve but it's also scary because I've always ignored things for so long and lived with this self-loathing, ice hardening mask that it became a part of me. It isn't who I want to be though. I was heading down a soul damning path. Turning into someone I feared deep inside: Someone unworthy of love, being hugged gently by my parents -both earth and heaven one - Someone that deserved to rot in hell because Heaven is too good for me. I was worse than others. I felt numb, like no one else's sin compared to mines. Conceited huh? It's You Again God
Sometimes life can get so hectic that we fail to stop, take a breath and just be still. For years I have been committed to having a quiet time each day where I read the Bible and talk to God about what is on my heart, which has been really wonderful but it just struck me today as I began my quiet time that I need to take more time to LISTEN when God is trying to speak to me. When I am more open to Him leading my quiet time, it's so much better! God has so much He wants to say, so much He wants to teach me.
