It's the year 1933. On the dim, jazz-filled streets of New York City, vampires and human beings live side by side for the first time in history.

Their peace is enforced by the notorious Michael "MJ" Jackson, the head of the vampire gang that controls the city. When a war that threatens the welfare of humans begins to loom in the shadows, however, MJ's power is threatened for the first time in his life.

Escaping a grim past, Leila Winslet is a new human resident of the city. When she one day crosses paths with MJ, she soon finds herself swept up into a world that she is warned about engaging in. A budding romance with the vampire boss of New York becomes the center of her world, however, and there is no pulling her from him - even amidst the threat of war.

Together, MJ and Leila must solve tragic mysteries, uncover forgotten histories, and conquer harrowing fears to protect the peace that their city stands for.
