Kyoko is a Japanese little girl. She wants to go outside and play so bad, but the rain is pouring and she is forced to stay in.
To escape boredom, Kyoko does what Japanese children do when it rains: build the traditional rain dolls called teru teru bozu. These fabric dolls are said to scare away the spirit of rain and bring sunshine.
When the magic of teru teru bozu fails her, Kyoko destroys the dolls.
But she doesn't know that her act will transform her home and create a passage to another world.
