I was doing just fine on my own.

That is, until I saw him.

We'd never run in the same circles, our worlds barely grazing one another. But the moment his gaze found me, it was as if a line was drawn, a boundary no one else could cross.

He was danger, the kind that promised to burn everything to the ground. And for the first time, I found myself willing to stand in the fire, just to feel the heat. I should have known better, should have turned away.
