when sonic finds the baby version of shadow in a forest, they get along super fast( Probably because shadow thinks Sonic is his mother.... X3 ). The real, older Shadow finds out and offers to take responsibility for the child.

When sonic and shadow stopped the space colony ark from colliding with earth shadow failed to make it out with sonic and ended up falling to earth.
