The Black Bull

The Graves ranch has always carried a reputation. Hard men. Harsh land. And one brand that seems to mark more than cattle. Calla Graves grew up here, she and a calf she once bottle-fed in the barn - a black bull named Rambo who was more pet than stock. Until her father forced her to leave him to the prods and ropes of the hands.

Years later, Rambo is dead and buried after brutally killing a hand. But when the bull rises from his grave - rotted, burning-eyed, leading an impossible herd of the damned - the Nevada valley falls into chaos. Stampedes, fire, hysteria: no one is safe, and no one knows how to stop him. Guns won't work. Prayers won't hold. But Calla has something the others don't - her grandmother's journals, and a new life stirring inside her, one she will protect at any cost. To end the curse, she will have to face the creature she once loved and raised as her own.

Fun Fact:
This has been simmering (Or festering, depending how you look at it) and forgotten in a notebook worn and water stained, for about 20 years. Rambo was a real bull, who only died a few years ago. Mix in an obsession with ghost hunters, Stephen King, a paralyzing fear of large bulls with horns- even those I helped bottle feed, and the trauma of watching said bull gore someone to near death and hear you go!
