Shadow is a God Killer, capable of killing Gods and those divine. There had been a war going on for 6,000 millennia. The Gods demand complete worship and devotion, and no mortal alive wishes to become slaves to the divine. Shadow is part of the rebellion and returns after a battle when Tails discovers another God Killer that the Gods sealed away in a Prison Temple, so powerful that they couldn't kill.
Shadow sets out to free them, knowing the rebellion needs all the help they can get. However, he doesn't know the power sleeping inside its prison. He doesn't know the being he's going to awaken, who holds a lot more answers than he believes.
