She was the kind of woman who smiled in public and cried in silence. Behind the soft hum of household routines and the polite exchanges with her husband, loneliness had settled in like dust quiet, invisible, but suffocating. Years had passed since she had felt seen. Conversations with her husband had become functional, their intimacy reduced to routine, their laughter replaced by silence and sobs

Then he came along unexpected, uninvited, and yet, so perfectly timed. He noticed things. The way her eyes lingered on sunsets, the tremble in her voice when she talked about her past, the way she hid her pain behind politeness. He asked questions that weren't about dinner or errands or bills. He listened like her words were worth something.

Sitting down on the soft king size mattress I ran my fingers threw my hair in frustration and undo the first two of my buttons while removing my tie when a very angry Dana stood in front of me. Her hands on her hips, "What the hell Michael." I raised my head to look up at her. "How could you? At my wedding. You humiliated me." Standing up I pulled her closer to me, "I'm sorry." Is all I could muster. "You're sorry! You called another woman's name at our wedding, and not just any woman my sister and all you could say is your sorry." What else is there to say. "Tell me Michael did you sleep with her." Her question baffled me. How was I to answer. My face probably had guilt written all over. "Michael, you did!" I didn't answer and she took that as a yes. "At least deny it please." Her sobs only made me feel regret. "Hit me, punch me, slap me I don't care. I deserve it." Dana took that opportunity to throw slap after slap when she suddenly flinch. "Is that..." Slowly she pulled back my collar, "Take it off." "What?" "Your clothes off now." In a haste Dana removed my clothes only to find evidence planted on my chest and neck. Scratches and bite marks. "You, had sex during our wedding." I could hear the shocking gasps in her voice. "Tell me Michael, when, was it before or during." I couldn't lie to her I didn't want to lie to her, "Before and during." I answered truthfully. "Michael Black, how could you. How long." "How long what?" "How long have you been sleeping with my sister." **************Warning for mature audience only*******************

Insert from story "You have kind eyes." He said, holding my gaze. "You look innocent." That was on purpose. "Are you ever going to tell me your name?" He asked as he started to clean my foot. "I already did. It's Heather." "Heather." He said, keeping his voice even. "Yes, Heather Dean." He just chuckled, like he didn't believe me. "Why do I get the impression that you think I'm lying?" I asked. "Because of how you respond every time I called you that." Oh...Crap, that wasn't good. "You haven't shared your name either." I pointed out. "I'm waiting." He answered simply. "For what?" "For you to tell me the truth." He looked back up at me. "It only seems fair right?" "It would only seem fair if I was lying." He looked at me for awhile before saying, "So, you're going to stick to that story, huh? All right. Well, when you're ready to be honest, I'll share my name." He had a point but....I still needed to be careful. Yes, he had been kind but that still wasn't reason enough for me to trust him just yet.
