"I'm a monster," he whispers with a shake of his head. "I've lured countless people to their deaths. Innocents."
"That's not who you are anymore," I insist. I give his shoulder a gentle squeeze. "You can take back the narrative. Only you get to say who you are."

Astarion ascended just like he wanted. Tav helped just like he asked. People change just like they were warned. Fair warning: Ascended Astarion is the villain, Tav frequently disassociates and justifies Astarion's behavior to themselves and the other companions. Domestic violence is implied but not depicted out-right. Verbal abuse is kept to a minimum. Two major characters will die eventually. An alternative epilogue at Withers' party. As the Ash Settles, is my take on what happens to the group of companions after saving Baldur's Gate. As the ash settles and the drinks are pouring a familiar sensation washes over our Tav, the very same one that compelled her to attack poor Alfira in her slumber, perhaps defeating her sister was not just denying her father but in fact taking back her rightful spot as leader of the Bhaalspawn, perhaps Withers was indeed wrong.
