Freya and Malachi have been neighbors their whole lives - and for just as long, he's been the one person she could always count on. When everyone else felt like too much, he never did. He was steady in a way nothing else in her life ever was. But at 17, that starts to change. A new girl comes into the picture, and slowly, the boy who was always there stops being there at all. Plans get harder to make. Conversations get shorter. And then one day, he says something Freya never thought he'd say to her - the kind of thing you can't take back. She goes home and falls apart in a way she doesn't let anyone see. What she does after that is the real story. Because losing him doesn't break her the way it should have. It cracks something open instead - and what grows in that space might be better than what she had before. Some doors don't stay closed forever, though. And when this one starts to open again, Freya has to decide if she still wants what's on the other side of it.
