Following the crash of 9/11, an ailing mother prays for someone to bring the borough of Harlem new light after the loss of so many of its citizens. The next day, her water breaks and the star Sunshine Jones is born. Throughout his life, he was able to make a name for himself as a spoken-word poet and an activist for environmental causes - then he falls in love with rap. The sudden new wave of rappers entering his new generation both terrifies and humbles him, but he has a fiery, competitive spirit and a penchant for spitting fire. Wave after wave of trauma heals to the sound of Sunshine's voice, a full-bodied, smooth baritone that raises goosebumps.
Sunshine has a very vivid imagination that sometimes can get him in trouble. Oftentimes, he'll notice his drawings come to life, dancing and smiling, or he'll sing a song, and someone meets their soulmate. Sunshine has visions at night of the moon overtaking the skies during the day, a solar eclipse and a crash. These events are connected in a series of events benefiting the common good, called a miracle. God and the Devil decide whose prayers to answer and why, but in a daring move to answer his mom's request, bestowed these powers to Sunshine. Sunshine had to play judge, jury, and executioner when it came time to deliver miracles to the borough of Harlem. With fans like worshippers and enemies like demons, will he ever truly be satisfied with what the music industry offers him?
