Guilt and anger taste the same on my tongue. I never know which is meant to be virtuous.

✷

After her father's disappearance, cold, clinical and calculating Verity Xie must take up the mantle as the Butcher of West London and become the Vitris crime family's organ harvester. In an effort to assimilate into the family, she is granted a close partnership with diplomatic and intensely private Alexander Vitris, eldest son and heir apparent of Augustine Vitris.

Granted, taking up her father's mantle comes with inheriting his enemies. The secrets that Verity must keep threaten to unravel the further she falls into business with Alex. Someone close by is determined to cut her from the organisation. A relentless detective has scented her blood trail. And Verity is beginning to suspect that Alex, who seems to be the only person sharing in her darkness, isn't painting her a complete picture.

Forced to bury more than just the bodies on her operating table, Verity must choose between her ambitions and protecting her remaining family from the repercussions.

⁑⁑⁑ EDITING AS OF MARCH 2019 ⁑⁑⁑ [Winner in the 2012 Watty Awards for Undiscovered Gems]: ★ Read at your own risk. There are major grammar issues, plot holes and probably some really annoying stuff in this book. If you want to read a story written when I was 12, then please proceed. Major editing in process. ★ Eighteen year old Victoria Green has been spending her life trying to mend everyone else's broken pieces back together - but what happens when they begin not to fit? A cheating , absent father with a much younger mistress, a distraught mother who cannot possibly take care of her emotionally damaged self and an unfamiliar new city is more than broken, it's a freaking disaster. A spur-of-the moment decision to pack up and move halfway across England to the small, quaint town of Doncaster in seek of a new life does nothing to piece back together the broken Green household. In an attempt to escape the Hell of her reality, Victoria begins to live vicariously through the older instant messaging website AIM. I mean, no one goes on that thing anymore, right? Wrong. When she meets someone under the name Singingforlife24, she begins to develop dangerous and unsolicited feelings for the person behind the strange, yet soothing username. Conversations that lasted a few short messages turns into an everyday occurrence and before she knows it, Victoria is falling hard for the stranger behind the username. Meeting the town's a**hole wasn't in her plans - nothing was. But as they always say - there's a thin line between love and hatred (of a jerk, that is). He Wasn't a Jerk Series (MUST be read in order): #1: He Wasn't a Jerk Online #2: He Wasn't a Jerk Before #3: He Wasn't a Jerk After All #4: He Wasn't a Jerk In The End

New Country. New School. New Friends. New Life. New Beginning. Fresh Start. Clean Slate. Start Over. Have you ever wanted to move away and start all over again? That’s all Vanessa has ever wanted. She wants to move away from the life she has grown to hate and start her life all over again. Bullies. Abuse. Depression. Self-Hatred. Weak. Useless. Pathetic. Lost. Feeling unwanted and under-appreciated aren’t new feelings for young Vanessa Bell, living in constant fear and worry isn’t either. It can take just a few words to bring someone’s self-esteem plummeting for the ground and add a few bruises here and there and all self-worth will be lost. Feeling numb from all the pain is usually a good thing but when you’ve been hurt so much to the point where you don’t feel anything anymore. You’ll often find yourself asking “What is the point?” or “Why do I even bother?” Maybe Vanessa will find her way, maybe in a place called Sydney, maybe with the help of a boy named Luke. When Vanessa chooses to “Start All Over” maybe she’ll find it’s the best decision she’s ever made. {Warning: Will contain triggering thoughts and action and involves sensitive topics like depression, death, suicide and abuse} **This is very poorly written because when I wrote it I was 13 so please read knowing that I was a very dumb 13 year-old or read later when I've finished rewriting which is a slow process but I'm getting there, sorry** UNDERGOING EDITING COPYRIGHT © 2012-2013 CUDDLINGHEMMINGS
