16 year old Elias Greene just moved to Ridgewell with his recovering alcoholic father after a tragedy fell upon them-the death of Elias' mom, destined from stage three liver cancer, ultimately resulting in Elias' attempted suicide. They needed a fresh start, something new, and they both hoped Ridgewell would be it. 17 year old Joseph Olsson has lived in Ridgewell all his life, it's his home-or the home that never felt like one, as he battles with obstacles that test his willpower every moment of every day, mostly living up to his minister father's expectations, taking his religious beliefs, along with his beatings-all while raising, protecting his 14 year old sister. Their lives were damaged; they never knew anything different, that is until each other. When two souls come together, it changes everything they ever thought they knew about themselves... And for one of them-it's a lot more complicated than love itself can overcome as religion plays a bigger role than either of them are ready to bear.

This story is a continuation of Too Perfect, a Shyland fanfiction. Before reading, make sure you read the first two stories. This story will not make sense as it picks up where the last story left off. If you read this story first, there will be spoilers to the previous story. Final installment of 3 part series Part 1: It's Complicated Part 2: Too Perfect Part 3: He/Him In the perspective of Alex Yaw ✹ My dads told me on my thirteenth birthday that I had a choice to make: I could officially change or stay who I was. My girlfriend said it didn't matter to her what I decided. She said she'd love me the same if I was still a biological girl. But it was an important decision, and growing up was already a stressful experience for me. You would expect that from a girl who told her dads she was a boy at the age of four.
